Types of coupons and target group

In Mobile Photo Kiosk, you can plan and implement various promotional campaigns using the discount coupon feature. This allows your customers to enter a coupon code in the basket and reduce the amount of their purchases by the indicated percentage or monetary value.

A discount code can be set as default by you and automatically activated in the basket, or it can be manually entered by the customer.

In terms of achieving the goals of such a promotional campaign, two of the most important parameters of a coupon are its Type and Target group. We will try to explain these two key parameters.

 

Types of coupons

The type of coupon determines how and in what situations the coupon can be used. Each of the available coupon types offers different possibilities, allowing for the creation of various promotions.

  • “Standard” – This type of coupon provides basic configuration options and does not have any additional functionalities. It allows for multiple uses of the discount, with its only limitations being the validity period and possibly a usage limit. It is suitable for periodic promotions where customers can return multiple times and still use the same discount. Due to its versatility, this is the basic type of coupon.
  • “Sticky” – After the first use, this type of coupon “sticks” to the user’s account and is automatically added to their basket with each subsequent order. It is intended for granting a permanent discount to selected customers. This is also a convenient option for users, as after one use, they can count on a discount with each subsequent order without having to remember to enter the code in the basket each time.
  • “Welcome” – This coupon is intended exclusively for new customers and can only be used on their first purchase in your shop. After the first purchase, the coupon becomes invalid for that user. This type of coupon is an excellent way to encourage potential customers to try your products.
  • “Single-use” – Similar to the “Welcome” coupon, this type of coupon can only be used once by each customer. However, in this case, it is independent of whether the customer is new or a returning customer who has already made purchases in your shop. This solution is useful when you want to offer a discount to a wide range of customers, ensuring that the discount is not abused by any of them.

Target group

When adding a coupon, you can narrow down its audience by using the Target group option. This feature allows you to have full control over who can use your coupon – whether it’s all users or only selected groups of customers.

➡️ All users – This option allows the coupon to be available to all customers visiting your shop, regardless of whether they are registered or not. This is an ideal solution for organizing promotional campaigns aimed at the widest possible audience. For technical reasons, this option is only available for Standard coupons.

➡️ Only registered users – Coupons with this target group are available exclusively to logged-in users with an account.

➡️ Only registered or mobile app users – This target group type combines two categories – the coupon can be used by both registered users and all customers using the Mobile Photo Kiosk mobile app (where they are remembered and function as temporary users as long as the app is installed). Using this option increases the flexibility of the promotion – it allows the coupon to be used by people who do not want to register. This target group is available for all types of coupons.

 

Note! Unfortunately, there is a workaround with this method. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app will create a new temporary user who can use Welcome or Single-use codes again.

Examples

💡 Organize a discount campaign for first-time purchases in your shop – simply create a Single-use coupon with the target group set to Only registered or mobile app users, and then share the code with potential customers. All new customers in your shop who use the mobile app will be able to take advantage of the discount, and if they register, they can also use the coupon on the web app.

💡 Permanent 5% discount for enthusiasts from the PHOTOMANIACS forum? Create a Sticky coupon with the target group Only registered users and the selected 5% discount – share the code with forum members. After the first use, the coupon will be assigned to the users’ accounts, and for each subsequent order, they won’t have to remember it – it will apply automatically (provided the customer is logged into their account).
