Product price tiers and group discount calculation
Product price tiers
In Mobile Photo Kiosk, you can adjust the unit prices of products based on the number of items ordered by the customer.
Products can be grouped by price within entire categories, and their prices will be determined based on their quantity in the order. This mechanism is called price tiers and allows for direct quantity promotion: “order more, pay less.” The product price label then indicates the lowest possible price, presenting it as the “from” price.
Price tiers can be set individually for each product, and the promotional price tier can be determined based on the quantity of only that specific product or all products from the same category. This summing of quantities allows for promotions like: “order any 3 photo gadgets and pay less” and the mechanism is flexible enough to work even if these products have different prices.
1. Configuring product price tiers
- From the Admin panel, select Settings –> Products.
- Click “Edit” on the product for which you want to set price tiers and go to the “Prices” section.
- Use the “+” (plus) and “–” (minus) buttons to add and remove price tiers (1).
- In the “Minimum volume” column, set the number of product units from which a different price per unit will apply (2).
- In the “Price per piece” column, specify the price for the selected price tier (3).
- In the “Promo price” column, specify the promotional price for this price tier (4).
- Confirm the changes by clicking the “Apply” button.
2. Summing quantities within a category
As mentioned earlier, different products within a category can collectively determine the price tier by summing the quantities of ordered products.
To use this functionality, follow these steps:
- From the Admin panel, go to: Settings –> Products.
- Select the product group for which you want to enable price tiers (for example, Photo Mugs) (1).
- Click “Edit” and find the “Tiers rule” section (2).
- Enable “Price tiers by summed quantity” by toggling the appropriate switch (3).
- Confirm the changes by clicking the “Apply” button (4).
Examples
The category in which we want to enable group discount calculation is Photo Mugs. Within this category, there is a Thermal Mug (with a base price of 19.99 EUR) and a Ceramic Mug (with a base price of 13.99 EUR).
The comparison of price tiers for these products is as follows:
In a situation where the basket contains:
➡️ 1x Thermal Mug
➡️ 2x Ceramic Mug
the standard price (without group quantity summing) will be:
➡️ 1x Thermal Mug – 19.99 EUR
➡️ 2x Ceramic Mug – 2 x 13.99 EUR
Enabling summing by quantity will result in the following price changes in the basket:
➡️ 1x Thermal Mug – 18.99 EUR
➡️ 2x Ceramic Mug – 2 x 11.99 EUR
As you can see, the second price tier has been applied because the total number of products in the basket is 3.
The final prices charged are as follows:
